We are in CasaMario.

For the first time in its 5-year trajectory, the collective behind CasaMario Project is carrying out the first residency at an artistic-cultural institution: Subte Exhibition Centre (Montevideo, Uruguay). Between the months of April and July, it will unfold a curatorial exercise of an exhibition through a proposal of varying assemblages that will display the archive and trajectory of a project in constant construction. It will also integrate two programs, a Public Program that includes national and international guests (to offer conferences, conversations, workshops and actions) and a Pedagogic Program that represents a collective space for learning and designing the mediations of the events that will take place during the exhibition. At the same time, and following the trajectory of a project that has attempted to boost and humanize all gatherings, a kitchen will be installed at SUBTE, as a way of fostering spacial and affective integration and cohesion even further.

The collection of images, objects, stories, practices and documents will be conceived in their integrity and laid out in a relational way, organised to conform an artistic-pedagogic piece that will be articulated at a determinate space-time where publics will also play the part of “users”. In this way, the curatorial proposal, the assemblage and the outlined programs propose to construct the notion of place (of house) from different perspectives, scales and meanings. Here, a series of ideas in relation to security, intimacy and privacy, and the very own existence will come together, ideas that have been approached extensively at the place located on Piedras Street and which have, in turn, led to the generation of various risks, social blinks, affects and conflicts in the neighbourhood and the city. It is in this sense that the proposal invites to inhabit the space, at the same time as it is collectively unfolded and constructed.

We propose to collectivize an exercise of political imagination over our practices, affects and narratives.

The South Thrush lays its eggs on another species nest. It shares some comments as it awaits with confidence:

In what ways can artistic practices understood as a «specific group of competences, skills, aptitudes and perceptions (…) be combined with other competencies from other fields of human activity»?

How to deal with the excess of meaning that the institution daily provides? How to think and project a new institutionality?

In times of extreme dizziness, can we slow our practices towards an extensive and reflexive way of doing and making?

Let’s think the social as a space-time of eroticism, of political and poetic construction, not as a space of fear and aggression.
